My Students

I am a K/1 bridge classroom teacher in Central Harlem teaching children with special needs. The community in which I work encompasses a diverse group of cultures with families from multiple backgrounds. My students are emergent learners who enjoy learning and growing academically, while engaging with each other through a new normal as they socially distance. They often find ways to share what they are learning while socially distancing by dividing up toys and books in order that they socially and emotionally grow to understand how to learn under extenuating circumstances.

My Project

As my students continue to traverse their way through the pandemic, now that they have returned to in person learning, it is important and necessary for them to stay healthy and nourished by being rejuvenated with fluids and snacks, along with a clean environment.

They are working on re-adjusting to new routines and rituals that will enable them to socially and emotionally become better acclimated to new normalcy.

They have been rebounding as they reunite in regaining their enthusiasm for their love of learning and being able to continue to develop and grow academically.
