My Project

This grant aims to replace some of our aging Sphero Bolt robots, which are over 5 years old and starting to fail due to connection and battery issues. These robots have always been a favorite in our classrooms, sparking excitement and helping students dive into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on learning. By replacing them, we’ll provide reliable technology that can engage our students across K-12 grade levels, benefiting around 3,200 students, including a large Hispanic population. The new robots will support a range of activities, from basic coding for younger students to more advanced engineering projects for high schoolers.

Our goal is to breathe new life into our robotics program and keep students excited and motivated to learn!

With the new robots, students will experience greater success in our annual coded "rock, paper, scissors" tournament, create dynamic robot driven art by painting over custom stencils, and tackle challenging obstacle courses that enhance their problem solving and coding skills. These hands on activities help students develop creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. These robots will continue to serve future students, bringing long-term value to our STEM and arts programs.

Our students are special because they bring a unique energy and passion to learning. Many come from Hispanic backgrounds, and these robots provide a fun and inclusive way to engage them in tech driven activities. By replacing the aging robots, we’ll give students the chance to explore and build skills that will prepare them for the future, all while fostering creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an innovative environment. This will also help students build confidence in their abilities, free from the frustration of connectivity and battery issues that currently distract from their learning.
