This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Mrs Pac Man and Street Fighter 2 are two classic games that will help grow and expand our clubs features giving students access and the opportunity to experience them in the way they were intended to be, played standing side by side with a friend. Help us grow our options for students to learn about gaming history by adding these cabinets to our club.
Our students have a passion for technology and gaming culture and by exploring and appreciating videogame's history it gives them new insight to its future.
Our club consists on like minded individuals who are hands on learners. Students are currently using original hardware Nintendo, Sega, Genesis and Neo Geo consoles but we currently have no stand up arcades for them to experience.
Students in Retro Gaming club are encouraged to consider the history of the artform through assessing pixel art, gameplay and sound design and storytelling.
Its not just for fun, kids are gaining knowledge for a future in an industry worth $248 billion.
That being said the club does also offers students a place to decompress and relieve stress after a long week at school.
If we can expand our club and have more to offer to students we can consider collaborating with other classes such as Art and STEM classes. Fundraisers such as school wide game tournaments and inviting guest speakers from the industry to talk with students.
Help us make this happen.
