Restructuring Facilities for Technology Based Curriculum in Our Digital World

Help me give my students more shelving units so that our technology (laptops) have a home while they are waiting for service and/or already repaired while providing a much needed repair tool for our Chromebook and laptop keyboards.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When our students come to school, they are prepared, unified and ready for technology at their fingertips to increase their academic successes. One thing our kiddos have in common is many come from lower income families and neighborhoods. Many of our students don't necessarily have access to technology at home so when they arrive at school, technology can be their lifeline to educational achievement. I know we can boost and/or sustain our students' scholastic prowess with better access to technology broadening their minds in the process. With technology ever-so-present in our students curriculum they are able to meet real-world challenges as they advance into upper grades and eventually adulthood.

It amazes me how kind many of our students are, which is a testament in and of itself that coming from an affluent family doesn't necessarily breed character.

I like to think that all of our students are extremely bright and while that is favorable, I do see them yearning for more access to technology. We simply need better infrastructure in place to bring technology to our students, organizing what we currently have, what needs to be repaired and what is ready to be redeployed to the kiddos.

My Project

Having efficient storage to house our technology will provide a more organized space for our technology that requires service. This can increase the delivery of laptops and other technology out for repair which would then speed up the time to get it back in our students' hands.

Our students depend on technology that works when they need it and where they need it most is in their respective classrooms; not sitting in a closet collecting dust.

The new shelving units will provide storage for laptops waiting to be shipped out for repair and laptops waiting to be received back into inventory so they can be redeployed right into our kiddos' hands.

Our new shelving units will also have two shelves dedicated as individual work-spaces where myself and other technicians can fix minor hardware and software issues without disrupting already-in-session classrooms.

Lastly, having a desktop magnifier will allow us to more easily repair broken key caps on keyboards saving us time and money for unnecessary replacements.
