Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The student population for our freshman academy includes over 800 students. Many of our students come to us with stress, anxiety and uncertainty from the real world outside the classroom walls. This uncertainty funnels into their academic day and distracts them from be as successful as possible.

The idea behind our fidgets and social emotional tools are to provide the student with a safe and easy way to get through a tough moment.

Our classes can be up to 90 minutes long on certain days of the week, thus creating more anxiety for staying in their seat, being quiet, working, and much more. By providing a tool to keep them from distracting themselves or others, they will build confidence and have more success.

This project will serve that purpose. It will provide our two dedicated freshmen counselors squishy toys and stress balls to use in their office for students who need them to get through the day.
