This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are the youngest group of learners at our school in Bronx NY. We are 4 and 5 years old and we love to explore and create everyday.. We love art, stories, science and problem solving.

We are enthusiastic, reflective, and resilient and now we are learning at home due to the We came to school everyday ready to try out our ideas, ready to share our passions, and ready to learn new skills.

Our families are trying very hard to make home learning work but many lack the funds to buy all the supplies needed so that we can express our ideas and create things that help us show others what we know.

My Project

Each day in Pre-k we have a period of time after lunch where the children lie down and relax on their own nap mats while quietly listening to soft music. Some of the children sleep but many look at books quietly while they recharge for the rest of their day. I have asked for blankets so that each child can have their own soft blanket to cozy up with and blank books for the children to put photographs in so they can look at pictures of their families and friends if they do not wish to sleep. Rest time in pre-k is an important part of students social-emotional development and their development of self-regulatory skills and these materials will go a long way to making our rest time comfortable in our class.
