Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher in a mixed equity school. Many of the students with IEP and those without, that are low, struggle with reading comprehension. I currently work teaching Global History content that is considered modern. There are recordings used that they can listen and follow, and perhaps help with their understanding. I would like to use headsets that we could use when watching and listening to speeches and interviews so that they could follow at their own pace.

Another intervention used in my room is individual check in’s having a mobile desk would allow me to move around the room with my data tracker, computer, and tablet to properly support each student.

I also provide office hours in which students can come afterschool to receive support I have found that they are often hungry which results in them leaving before completing projects, having snacks would allow them to concentrate for that hour.

I also would like to request art supplies for those students who choose to complete assessments in a creative way.

My students are amazing and can apply themselves regardless of the adversities they face in their neighborhood, which is poverty and crime.
