Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is an inner-city school. We serve a diverse population of students and families. We serve a student population of English Language Learners and with some students living at or below the poverty line. Since our school serves a very high population of economically disadvantaged families who face many unique challenges, the staff at the school partners with families to not only support students' academic needs but social and emotional needs as well. Despite language barriers,​ they come to school eager to learn.

My Project

To help my students learn amid a pandemic, I could use a new morning meeting rug where kids gather to build listening and skills in a variety of situations. The students are needing to build skills of taking turns listening and speaking with the intent to learn and other communication skills.

Amid a pandemic we are students teaching students how to take care of belongings and building character education skills is essential.

To make our writing unit more engaging my students need a new pencil sharpener and pencil holder for use during their independent writing. They will be able to show responsibility by sharpening their own pencils when needed and will be able to put their pencil on their holder so they do not lost the pencil.

Students also need their own headphones to they can read and listen their Pebble Go stories without bothering others. This helps them build respect by them not being too loud around those trying to work and concentrate.
