This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For Occupational Therapy, students needs a variety of supports in therapy and in their classroom setting for improved functioning throughout the day. Some students need pencil grippers to improve their grasp for writing, some students need weighted lap pads for increasing sitting time at table-top and some students need noise blocking headphones to function in loud environments. Other therapeutic supports are needed for focusing, sensory techniques and overall supports to best help the student to function fully.

With support of these materials, students will have the opportunity to fully access their learning.

My Project

These materials will help improve a student's ability to write, focus, calm and engage fully in therapy and in the classroom environment. Students will have access to materials to self-regulate, like with use of lap pads and noise cancelling headphones. Student's will improve fine motor skills, overall coordination and pencil grip. Students will use these items daily or on an as need basis. Parents will be informed of progress and of materials use that helped in the process. Therapist will also have an opportunity to work with classroom teachers to use items within the classroom setting and to monitor progress. Students will greatly benefit from the noise cancelling headphones in loud environments like in the lunchroom, or those who are more sensitive to sounds in their classroom environments. All of this will be greatly appreciated!
