Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work to empower students with college and career skills to compete in the 21st Century by teaching business and math. I do incorporate reading, writing, discussion, and technology, and hands on design.

My classroom promotes a culture of learning environment by creating a high-performing, project based learning, in a simulated workplace that allows students to learn in ways that are beneficial to their unique needs.

My school is working on revamping courses into a culture of project based learning because many of our students, especially those furtherest from opportunity, are not prepared for the 21st century and the challenges they will face as they move into the adult work. As a department, we work together to determine each student's strengths and weaknesses so that we can design instruction to meet the needs of every student.

My Project

One of my goals this year is to ensure that every student is college and career ready by mastering 21st century skills, especially as they relate to financial literacy.

Mastery of financial literacy and money skills is often a struggle, especially for my kids who lack real world experiences.

I will be using these resources to help me focus on strengthening knowledge, implementation of strategies, finding real world connections, and multiple entry points that differentiate content, process, and products based upon the specific financial literacy skill they need to master. Mastering financial literacy skills when they are young will help them make better decisions in the future!
