Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager learners who benefit from less traditional learning methods. They are English Language Learners (ELL) with disabilities who need extra help in order to reach they full potential. Being an ELL myself, it brings me great joy to watch my student's eyes light up when they understand a new concept, big or small. In order to close the gap between student's learning and performance, it is imperative to incorporate each student's interest and specific learning style in the classroom.

Our daily sessions include games, read-aloud, arts and craft, and even music, all with the goal of making connections between the student's native language and English, as well as targeting their individual needs.

My Project

At the beginning of the year, teachers are typically given a small amount of money to purchase some basic supplies. Due to COVID-19, these funds are no longer available. Instead of focusing on small items such as pencils, crayons, etc., I decided to try and fund bigger items/materials that my students will need such as activity sets, vocabulary builders, and even a mirror for articulation practice.

My student's safety comes first, which is why I also included face shields, gloves, and floor markers to guide them.

Due to the budget cuts, I am not able to purchase all of these items and other essential items which is why I am asking for your help. Thank you!
