My Students

Most of my students come from a rural low-income community and all qualify for special education assistance through an Individual Education Plan. My students are hard workers trying to improve their academics skills but may struggle because of previous (or current) trauma in their lives.

All students need to feel safe and in the right state of mood to learn.

My goal is to have a location in my classroom that will help my students reset their feelings and learn how to handle situations when they are upset.

My Project

Today's students are facing problems that cause concerns at school both academically and emotionally. My project is helping students have a safe location in the classroom so students can work on their feelings and learn strategies on how to handle similar situations in their lives. Research says that students can't learn when they are upset or frustrated.

By founding this project, it will provide comfortable flooring for students that need that "out of desk" time to work through their emotions.

The flooring could help Autistic students by having a sensory area to help meet their needs.
