My Students

I am a K/1 Bridge classroom teacher in Central Harlem teaching children with special needs. The community in which I work encompasses a diverse group of cultures with families from multiple backgrounds. My students are emergent learners who enjoy learning and growing academically. As they learn they become more enthusiastic and happy about what they learn. They find ways to share and encourage each other and their families to take part in their learning by sharing the books they have read and the work they have done. They have been learning more and more as they safely social distance by displaying their work throughout the classroom. Though it has been difficult for them as they socially and emotionally grow to understand how to learn under extenuating circumstances, they have been real troopers.

My Project

I would like to secure materials that will serve and protect my students from the deadly virus we have fought so hard to protect them from over the past eighteen months. By keeping our classroom as clean as possible providing our students with mask, soap, paper towels and the like, will ensure their health and safety . This can only happen with materials that will protect their learning environment and them as they learn to readjust to in person learning. We have been fortunate enough to have emergent learners who love to learn and learn enthusiastically on a daily basis. They have been creative and skillful as they have learned to work hard learning how to socially distance and keep each other safe.
