Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My classroom is located in the state of Washington. Students are hardworking, kind, eager individuals.
Our differing cultures, backgrounds, economic statuses, and languages provide richness in the classroom.
However, we also face challenges. One challenge is that we need more materials and resources. There are so many learning opportunities I wish I could have with my students if only I had the means.
My Project
Please help get books for my students! My students need books to help them celebrate their cultures. Such books include All Different Now: Juneteenth, the First Day of Freedom and Jabari Jumps. Because students spend so much time in school, schools have a critically important opportunity and responsibility to make children welcome so that school isn't happening to them but rather they are a part of school.
I want my classroom to be a place that brings out the best in my students.
The books I'm asking to purchase, with your help, are also a better representation of my students. Where's Rodney?, Another, Carter Reads the Newspaper, Grace for President are all books
I'm asking for books about amazing people of color, books to better understand and build empathy, and everyday stories with characters that match the diverse racial and cultural backgrounds of students in my class. By reading about these role models and everyday people students will see themselves represented in their classroom library.
