Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I am excited to start my first year of teaching to an amazing group of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Many of my kindergarten students have not had the opportunity to grow up in a rich-print environment. I would love to immerse them into not only a love of books but present them diverse books to foster imaginative curiosity as they learn and are inspired to dream big.
My students are eager, willing, and looking for equitable opportunities to be successful.
My students are part of a Dual Language program with bilingual and bi-literate end goals. My students will have a strong language, literacy, and cultural focus in my classroom. Although many of my students have not attended preschool, these diverse texts will help them make meaningful connections to help them focus on the foundational skills and language they need to bridge educational gaps across their learning, socio-emotional skills, and build strong cultural identities.
My Project
Carpe Diem, Seize the day! My students will dive right into a love for reading, and help bridge educational gaps of literacy and language. These diverse books will present my students with identity, instill community awareness, and foster building of meaningful connections and experiences where they can see themselves in the print they read! Help me to inspire my students to dream dreams that they see in the books they read. Help my diverse students be doctors, teachers, lawyers, scientists, architects, and so much more! Help my students reach for the stars!
These diverse books have been selected to help inspire my kids to see themselves while they read and make meaningful connections.
My students will have access to these books during read-alouds, independent reading and small group work. As a class we will use them as mentor texts to help develop foundational skills in reading, writing, and language development. Our classroom library will be a center point in our classroom that will be treated with respect, and inspire curiosity and lots of questions and conversations.
