My Students

Our students are anxious to learn! Our school is for students with special needs who, because of severe emotional and behavioral issues, have not been able to learn successfully at their regular schools. They learn a little bit differently, and we are able to accommodate their differences and keep them in school and in class!

Our school provides a safe place where students can make mistakes, learn coping skills and master problem-solving strategies while continuing to be exposed to the district-wide academic curriculum.

Instead of being suspended or removed from the learning environment for extended parts of the day, our daily goal is to keep students in the learning environment.

My Project

I want to create a nurturing environment where my kids can feel comfortable and accepted. Knowing from personal experience I know what it's like to sit in a classroom and never learn, read or speak of diversity. There wasn't books of people that looked like me except during black history month. I want my classroom to be inclusive to all. I want my classroom to be a haven for my students to express themselves authentically and make mistakes for the sake of learning. We can celebrate their diversity with these items and sure them that they should be proud to be different!
