Reading is a very essential part of growing and learning in our learning community. Many of my scholars enter our learning community, without seeing a book with a cover or pictures that represent themselves. Reading provides many opportunities and all of my students want to read, but they want books that represent themselves and more than just non-fiction books. They have a very vivid imagination so more fiction books. This year I have worked to m my learning community a place of exploration, learning, and growth, and what better way to do that than through reading!
To make sure all of my students are engaged in reading regardless of skills and levels, I would like our learning community library to be built with diverse, engaging, books that capture their imagination.
Some chapter books are often too difficult for my scholars to read, with graphic novels giving my scholars a chance to find a book they can truly be engaged in and find that shows a representation of them through the pictures. With this project, I have given a list of graphic novels that my scholar said they wanted in the classroom, as well as graphic novels to add to the series I already have.
