This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Driven. Intelligent. Resilient. I love my students and I love that they enjoy reading! They are always asking me if I have a certain book or asking me for suggestions while looking for a new read on my bookshelf. Their hunger to increase their reading challenges me to do what I can to make it happen for them. Please help me add to my classroom library by purchasing these books!

"We need current books that are relatable!" That is what I hear from my students when discussing required reading by my district.

Reading books that represent them increases their engagement because they can connect with the characters, add to the conversation, and reflect on what they learned. The books on my list are conversation-starters. They have themes that would teach many lessons that would aid in helping my students expand their reading list.
