This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students encourage me everyday to deliver 110% by showing resiliency, determination, and an eagerness to learn. I serve an amazing group of culturally and linguistically diverse Kindergarten students. My students and their families are facing the hardships that many are experiencing due to Covid-19: homelessness, families without work, and meeting basic needs like food shortages. Virtual learning is a hardship on many families due to lack of internet, technology, providing an appropriate learning environment away from distractions, as well as providing school materials for students to be able to fully participate in remote learning as well as to have supplies developmentally appropriate for their growth.

My students are eager, willing, and looking for equitable opportunities to be successful.

My students are part of a Dual Language program with bilingual and biliterate end-goals in English and Spanish. My students will have strong language, literacy, and cultural competence learning goals. In order to accomplish these goals my students need to be well equipped with learning materials at home while they continue with remote learning for the foreseeable future.

My Project

This project will serve all of my Kinder students at my school. We have been able to provide some materials through other donors choose projects, as well as some district materials. However, we are already noticing students running out of sharpened pencils, markers, and crayons during remote learning. Families do not have the resources to quickly replenish old materials. We would like to provide a solution to our families, where they can easily go to the school and pick up materials as needed. We want students to feel fully committed and engaged during remote learning, and feel equipped with their necessary materials to continue to be successful.
