Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of both general education and special education students who are culturally diverse. Within our class, we also have many ENL students who speak multiple languages. We are a Title I school, where students are able to receive free lunch and breakfast.

Students in my school face many challenges and often see school as a fun and exciting place to be.

There are 4 different languages currently spoke in my classroom! We rely on technology to help translate lessons for these students. Using the internet as a resource has helped all types of learners progress academically. We not only want to improve their academics, we want to keep students motivated and excited to learn. Viewing videos tailored to their needs and language would make learning more exciting and beneficial.

My Project

Headphones will help my students immensely. We have recently been issued classroom laptops to utilize in the classroom. During ELA and Social Studies lessons, we often create station lessons where students rotate in groups. It would be exciting to incorporate online videos within these stations. However, it is extremely distracting to have multiple laptops playing at once! Viewing videos will keep our students motivated and help them succeed in understanding daily lessons. Additionally, students in our classroom rely on visual techniques to help them retain information; viewing these videos and listening to the audio will help them with just that.
