Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Inspire middle school musicians by providing them with adequate instruments and supplies. The goal is to encourage students to become successful with basic percussion instruments. This set of boomwhackers, mallets, and drumsticks will be used with students with special needs as well as typically developing middle schoolers. Boomwhackers are an easy way for students with disabilities to be successful. These materials already have a reserved and safe space in the band room.

Students can be successful by working together to create music with these instruments to learn collaboration skills.

The students at my rural Title I school are mostly minorities with many at poverty level. We have a majorly hispanic population with many English language learners. Collaborating to make music will help develop language skills. The connection between students as they work together will build social and emotional skills.
