My Students

My classroom is a very fun place to be. We start off every lesson with a warm-up, then dive into the curriculum in some shape or form. Usually I like to incorporate some hands on activities to help cement the learning for my students. Sixty percent are girls, while 40% are boys. My school has 8 different art majors that students audition for in order to get into my school.

Once accepted into one of the arts programs, students spend 90 minutes every day in their chosen art area practicing and perfecting different aspects of their chosen art area.

My school goes from 6th grade thru 12th grade.

My Project

Students love having "free choice seating" within my classroom. Three years ago I was granted a donors choose for the ball chairs within my classroom. I have the ball chairs and a few of the wobble stools. I have traditional chairs for students who just want to sit normally during class as well. My students love the chairs I got from a donors choose grant a number of years ago but the balls now need replacing. I am asking for ten replacement balls for Gaiam ball chairs.

These chairs work especially well for the students who have a hard time sitting still during our 90 minute classes.

These chairs allow them to move without disrupting class, which allows continued focus for all my students. There is an abundant amount of research that supports these kinesthetic seating. They have been a great addition to my classroom.
