This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Being chained to your desk all day is no fun. In my experience, my students rejoice when they have earned the privilege to choose where they work. I love to let students choose where they work, and many times it increases the quality of their work. My goal is to provide students with as many flexible seating options as possible.
With more flexible seating options in my classroom, students will have more choice in where they work, and won't spend the whole day at their desks.
Our well-loved bean bag chairs have taken quite a beating over the past couple of years. My students love to sit on these chairs to do their work, and have a break from being at their desks. The new bean-bag chairs will replace two that are on their last legs, while the filler will help us keep using our bean-bag chairs for years to come. These items will help my students learn how to work collaboratively and share their ideas with one another. My students will also learn tolerance and teamwork by taking turns with these seating options and coming to understand how each student is unique.
