Love to sing, create, move and learn? You've come to the right place! Our 3rd grade classroom is a place of exploration, music, movement and the excitement of learning. We are a High Poverty school located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our area is very rural. The closest semi-large city is over 4 hours away. Many students come from families that have never ventured beyond our area, used an escalator, explored an art gallery or visited a large city.
I want my students to see what's possible, to DREAM BIG, to problem-solve, create, and discover their interests and talents.
My Project
My students need materials to extend their problem-solving skills and to have meaningful experiences with simple machines and renewable energy problems and solutions. Our area is considering installing windmills as a power source. These materials will help my students develop an understanding of wind as power.
These K'Nex kits will provide my students with opportunities hypothesize, design, create, test, and adjust their creations while learning about simple machines and energy options.
Worksheets just don't cut it when it comes to truly developing an understanding of science and math concepts. These hands-on kits will bring these concepts to life--maybe even spark a student to delve more into renewable energy concepts in the future.
