This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a passionate National Board Certified special education high school teacher. Our school is a Title I school serving a diverse population. The students I work with are determined and strive to persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has worked on the yearbook staff, attended school activities, volunteered in the community, and served on the (ASB) Associated Student Body. They excel with movement and hands-on experiences. I am blessed to be their teacher and strive to encourage students beyond their greatest expectations.

The Lunar New Year signifies good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

As I open my doors for the new semester, I have the opportunity to teach my students about other cultures and traditions. As students learn about cultural traditions in other countries, they will have the opportunity to choose where they want to sit with these flexible seating stools, helping them focus and organize themselves. The storage bins, metal tables and plants represent a renewal and refresh in the classroom, allowing students to recharge for the Lunar New Year with true purpose and intent.
