My Students

Students love learning about the Italian Renaissance. They love studying artists like Sandro Botticelli, Titian, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Albrecht Durer, and more. They have a thirst for more resources than just the textbook.

Our school is a wonderful microcosm of students from all over Los Angeles.

We are incredibly geographically and ethnically diverse. We have students from so many different backgrounds, all coming together to learn together and from each other! Just as our students reflect so many different backgrounds, and experiences, we would like a classroom library that does this, too!

My Project

My students will first study and compare art from Classical, Medieval, and Renaissance time periods. They will learn to identify and describe differences in techniques, themes, styles, and more of each period. Books from this project focusing on the Renaissance will be available for students to peruse, check out, and study. Next, students will explore Florence through different learning stations. They will visit Fillipo Brunelleschi's dome, buy items with Florins (the currency of Renaissance Florence), study da Vinci's diaries, and more. Finally, students will pick one of 10 Renaissance figures to learn more about and research in a small group, and they will utilize books and markers from this project to create their own illustrated figure with important facts and illustrations decorating the body of their Renaissance person.

Students will love having books at hand to learn more about the figures they are studying.

They will love learning more about people like Queen Isabella, Durer, Titian, Brunelleschi and more. I have taught these activities in the past, and students love learning about the Renaissance. However, the resources in this project will help them learn and enjoy this even more! Thank you so much for supporting this great young people!
