My Students

About fifty percent of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Many have needs that we cannot always address. So as school funding decreases each year, we are in need of more and more help. In my classroom we cover writing, reading listening and speaking in Spanish. We have a very diverse population of students and I strive to connect cultures daily. Sometimes we lack resources to keep everyone involved and I feel that if I open the door for them with language, they can walk through. Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths. Sometimes all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence and I want to continue to support them. We need your assistance as we move toward success.

My Project

The Kindle will allow my students to read literature in Spanish and English and to provide novels that are current and interesting.

Our students are looking for more ways to connect to their peers and to their learning in this virtual setting.

I have students from across the grade levels and with different abilities. Having current books to read will allow them to participate with confidence in the common reading assignments. Not to mention the portability of a Kindle would allow them to read in various places, learning environments and further embed reading into our daily school routine. In seeing their wonderful faces online, when I shared this idea they were enthusiastic about how having the Kindles to help them during this time and next year. We would be able to use these for our literature circles and then they will be used with the next group of students. Which will allow me to help all of them to improve their literacy skills. Please invest in our shared future to make these young people thinkers and leaders in the school and community.
