This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In the heart of the Bronx, NYC, our Title I middle school strives to educate and empower individual thinkers to make a positive impact in the world. Serving students from diverse cultural backgrounds, cognitive abilities, and academic strengths, we intend to minimize the achievement gap that pushes our students to the back of the line in terms of access and equity.

WE TEACH, WE LEARN, WE LOVE.

Combining data-driven instructional models and strong social-emotional learning supports, our scholars graduate knowing they were loved and cared for while in our school building. Our students offer their voices, historically unheard; their talent, previously untapped; and their success, often underestimated.

Our Drama and Arts department is dedicated to working alongside learners to artistically engage curiosity and to ask and answer "bigger questions." We envision a thriving performing arts culture throughout our school building that encourages risk-taking and reflective practice while celebrating the power of creation and expression.

My Project

This project will support a strong remote learning program by creating a system for virtual backgrounds during video meetings etc. Additionally, the materials in this project will allow for an extension to current theater curriculum when transitioning back into in-person learning. Students will be able to explore digital technology for the purpose of creating exciting and engaging visuals for theater production. Further, students will have the unique opportunity to complement scene work presentations with high-definition visual backdrops, with both pre-existing and found images/videos or through original and digitally created materials.
