My Students

I have many students that are working remotely due to the pandemic. These students are comprised of students with special needs and many students that are English Language Learners. Unfortunately, I do not have a device to communicate with them on. I would like to do live, virtual lessons during each period for each of my classes, but I am unable to do so. I only have a desktop computer that is in a classroom with other students. I would like a device that can easily be moved to another room in order to teach my students while they are home. Without live lessons, I feel that these students will have difficulty understanding the lessons and I cannot virtually teach them in real time.

My Project

I am a teacher in a Title I school. We have a limited number of Mathematics teachers, so I am teaching in person and remotely while I am in my school building. I am doing my best to communicate with my students that are home, but I only have a desktop computer. This computer is located in a classroom with seven students. Therefore, it is very distracting for the students in the room to hear me teach a virtual class while they are engaged in a different lesson. I may have to limit the amount of live teaching I do which would put my remote students at an extreme disadvantage. In order to prevent this from happening, a Chromebook would give me the opportunity to see and teach my students in real time! While using the Chromebook, I would move to a different classroom where there aren't any students. I wouldn't have to worry about distracting other students, and my students at home will be getting the best education possible in these circumstances.

The calculators will be sent home with the students that are working remotely.

As I am teaching a virtual lesson, they can follow along with me and learn how to accurately utilize all of the buttons on the calculator. I teach 8th grade, and these calculator skills are necessary for high school.

The Chromebook and calculators are tools will greatly enhance the school year for my 8th grade students!
