Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I have the amazing opportunity to loop up with some of my students from last year. Last year they worked extremely hard to overcome obstacles in reading, recycling and remote learning. With the help of a funded DonorsChoose project, many of my students succeeded at moving reading levels and expanding our recycling program. In addition to working on personal goals, we’ve been continuing to work on impacting our school environment and overall world. Our Recycling Champions Club is in our third year.

At the end of the school year we discussed their plans for "next year" and they agreed that they should continue with a school wide goal to ensure that all the classrooms and offices in our school recycle and reduce the amount of trash that we put out.

Setting future goals is what makes my students awesome. It shows their hunger for knowledge and appetite for success.

Despite the academic and economic challenges my students face, they have seen first-hand that with hard work, they can overcome many obstacles. As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to have my students succeed, be proud of themselves and never give up no matter how hard thing

My Project

Due to COVID-19, remote teaching and learning are the new norms. With the inconsistencies in WIFI and screen sharing , it's important to have a teaching method to back it up.

Having old fashioned chart tablets and markers is essential to teaching during remote learning.

It allows me the opportunity to go back and review a chart we have made as a class without having to depend solely on technology and screen sharing capabilities.

Students will be able to see the charts posted on my wall and it'll serve as a visual reminder of strategies they should be using.
