Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in New York City, where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students come from economically disadvantaged family homes. Despite being at a financial disadvantage they are very eager and excited to learn all they can so they can be successful in life. My students are energetic and eager to learn.

My Project

These materials will be used to model ideas and lessons. With the easel pad, I will create colorful charts that we can continuously refer to in math, reading, writing, and history. The letters will be used to build words such as word families. The whiteboard is to be used for modeling and writing things that the students suggest when working out math problems. After I model, I often give the students the opportunity to share and tell each other how to figure out the math problems. It gives them an opportunity to share and shine.
