My Students

My students are an array of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in the heart of New York City. They strive to become artists and musicians who will lead our entertainment industry one day. They are highly academically motivated in their learning, as they attend an arts/performing arts high school in which they have specific majors of study in the arts. They have been not able to get all the technology-based learning from the pandemic as they needed. Students are sharing one laptop per five people. The students are learning at home without resources and libraries. I have a laptop that is not great at teaching and would like to update to better accommodate our students.

They need your help.

Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and provides rigorous academics and artistic practices. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in New York City. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college. Some even go on to become musicians on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and even on television.

My Project

I teach Physics course at an urban, inner city performing arts high school. Everyday, I strive to teach not only the required curriculum but the real-world connections and data needed to fully explain these science subjects to artistically inclined students. My goal is not just to have my students excel in the classroom but to develop into knowledgeable citizens ready to make an influential impact on the world.

Help our students enjoy remote learning.

In order for students to completely understand complex, cutting edge information involving these topics, they need access to real-time data and research via the world wide web, etc.

With the technology of an MacBook Laptop, we will be able to provide opportunities, multiple entry points and activities which can be completed by students of all different skill levels and learning styles. In addition, all Tablet devices will be utilized as an interactive tool (smart-board feature) in all classrooms and laboratory rooms. Students tend to enjoy the active learning style and perform extremely well on assessments given to them. We will also be able to engage my students with multi-media experiences which are extremely appealing to the social media generation. This opportunity given to my students will engage them mentally and physically throughout. Finally, all math and science teachers will be able to reach students in an entirely different way instead of just projecting the material by the use of the chalkboard.
