My Students

My elementary students are bright, talented, excited, curious... they deserve the best! My wonderful children love music, art, drama, physical education, dance and movement, games, as most children do, and they are particularly excited by the new music room, art room, library, and science rooms at our school. It is important that everyone has access to what motivates them. We have a huge student body with approximately twelve hundred kids, which makes it very difficult to provide all of the motivating, enrichment activities, that promote healthy social interactions and citizenship. They are students in pre-kindergarten through grade five, general education students, language learners, and many special education students. Families at our school come from many countries, including Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Mexico, China, India, and more. Each individual student has something special to offer as far as culture and background. It is pretty amazing! Of course, among this huge population, there are many challenging students who need a lot more from school than just "education." These projects are meant to motivate and enrich ALL of these students so that they do receive the best education possible.

My Project

My kindergarten students need supplies to use during remote learning when they are not able to benefit from shared supplies at school. They need to learn about letters and begin to learn to spell, to write, and express themselves... the challenges of teaching kindergarten and keeping 5-year-olds motivated through a computer screen are new and difficult, but I am trying to find motivation for my students by supplying them with fun materials for learning at home. Funding cuts have made this virtually impossible. While I have purchased many items with my own money, I cannot afford to buy everything these children will need. Help make it possible for students to have access to real school supplies for their home learning spaces!
