Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach 1st grade in a low income district in New York City. My students need materials and storage to be successful and organized.

Students in 1st grade come to school energetic and ready to learn!

They are eager to discover new things and try them out for themselves. By creating a welcoming environment, I can make sure that my students are set up for the best year possible from the very beginning. These students truly deserve all that they need to be successful.

My Project

We need dry-erase sleeves and markers so that we can send home center work & practice sheets for them. Building fluency is very important in first grade and the dry-erase sleeves allow for multiple uses without having to print dozens of worksheets. This also increases students engagement. We also need to provide our students with sharpeners for when their pencils break.

Our students need headphones to help them stay focused when learning at home.

These will help them ignore distractions and hear the lessons better! Our students are learning at home at least three days a week, and the headphones are an important tool they need.
