Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the first DonorsChoose requests I made was to create The Aztec Cafe and provide flexible seating options for my students. You see, our class’s adopted college is San Diego State University, whose mascot is the Aztec, with colors of red and black.

Combining both flexible seating and a desirable work area, the idea was born to create ’The Aztec Cafe’ in our room, an area where students may go to read, write, and work on a variety of projects.

Eight years later, The Aztec Cafe continues to be the most-requested area to work. With a pub-style table and high chairs located by our picturesque window overlooking a grassy field, trees, hills, and horses, students work hard to earn the privilege of sitting there. Unfortunately, our chairs have seen better days, and the footrests have broken off and gone missing over the years. I am requesting new, safer chairs to replace these. I am also requesting a TpT gift card to support and enhance our curriculum.

Thank you very much for your consideration and kindness in bringing “Remodel Request for The Aztec Cafe” to life for our fifth graders. We are extremely appreciative, and we look forward to our Aztec Cafe remodel.
