My kids are always in an adapt and overcome mode. There aren't nearly enough opportunities for them and yet they seem to manage. One of the areas of concern is their reading levels. Everything they learn requires a high level of reading skills. They need to be able to practice this skill in every class.
I want to be able to teach history and expose them to enjoyable reading experiences.
Children of the Dust Bowl is a great opportunity for me to expose my students to the history they learn about already, and give them an opportunity to read stories from their perspective.
