My Project

I love working with my special needs students!! They are smart, engaging, funny and full of love!! When students with special needs and various learning disabilities become emotionally frustrated and upset, a calm, quiet, safe space is a great way for them to relax, release, and refocus.

A designated, quiet, calm, relaxing space allows students to quietly and independently decompose and refocus thoughts.

A comfortable sitting area with cozy chairs, posters, and pillows in which they can read, relax, continue to work, or even to sleep will make this possible.

I would like to be able to provide a space within my classroom where mindful thoughts and experiences can occur. It is my goal to help students recognize that they are independent thinkers who are able to help themselves when they feel any level of stress or frustration.

This would ensure less out of classroom disruptions, trips to the guidance counselor or principals office. It will also help students to make independent choices as it relates to social-emotional learning.
