My Project

Hello I am the Psychiatric Social Worker at our elementary school. I provide social and emotional support to all our students K-5th. I am reaching out for help to get assistance with funding a relaxation station. This area would be used as needed for any student that needs to take a five or ten-minute break. I am a firm believer in self-care and just like adult’s students need self-care. A way to have a positive outlet is for me to create an area in my room that allows students to take a mental health break when needed. Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more. This area will also have books to read and fidget toys to help calm a student’s nerves, relieve stress and serve as a distraction in an overstimulating environment
