My Students

As a teacher with low-income and high needs students, I like to expose the children to as many experiences as possible. The best way to do this by establishing a cozy space where they can read and work in small groups

The students in my class are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.

They enjoy hands-on activities and love to move around. Many of them come from single-parent households, with low-income status. Some have not experienced the "typical" things most children their age have. Whereas I can not control their life outside the classroom, I can control their experiences when they are with me. By using a creative and positive way I hope to inspire them to continued academic success.

My Project

Having calming colors bean bag chairs, and pillows will create a cozy place to read and learn and also a relaxing atmosphere for my students. Many of my students are special needs and struggle in a traditional learning environment. These items will help them to be comfortable while reading, therefore, fostering a love of reading. In addition, the double-wide easel will give my students the opportunity to share their thinking with the group during lessons, by displaying their work on the easel. In addition, it will give them better access to group-created anchor charts and learning strategies from the bean bag chairs and pillows. My students come from low-income homes some with multiple families living in one home. Most are single-parent homes where parents are unable to help their children develop a love of reading. As a person who loves to read and work in a cozy space, I want to expose my students to the same atmosphere that I love!
