My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with many challenges in and outside of school. My students need to be constantly moving and engaged throughout the school day.

By creating a classroom environment that caters to all of their specific needs during their intervention time, it would allow my students to actively learn.

They would come in with a smile on their face knowing that someone did something special for them. Many students become easily discouraged due to the simple fact that they have to leave their general education classroom.

If this project gets funded, my students will no longer feel sad or annoyed anymore. Just think about a time when before you even entered the school building you were annoyed or mad at something. Now, imagine knowing that first thing in the morning when you walk in and unpack you get to have a little more fun learning each day. Which would you choose?

My Project

All of the fidgets and flexible seating options give my students choice in the classroom. This will help them garner the ability to stay on task using their own terms. Having all of these options will allow my scholars to individually discover a new way to help them focus on what they are learning. Fidgets are items such as squeeze balls and chair bands, which help occupy students' minds and allows them to be able to focus better on what they are learning. Flexible seating is when traditional seating is replaced with other types of seating like squishy seats and chairs with exercise balls attached. Using earbuds during intervention time when working on programs on the laptops will allow them to not hear other noises within the classroom.

This project would significantly help my scholars focus and relax more during intervention class, giving them an opportunity to learn differently.

I can already foresee the smiles on all of their faces when they see what all of you generous people have provided for them. The simple fact that someone cares about their learning will impact their lives greatly.

I can only hope that these materials will help keep our room active and fun!
