Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine the biggest and most infectious smiles, complete with twinkling eyes and open mouthes. Now place those smiles on five-year-olds as they learn to read, write, and do math - and that's what I see every day in my classroom.

My school's mission is to eliminate the achievement gap and empower students to become problem solvers.

I am passionate about providing the best education possible to my enthusiastic students. My class is comprised of Latino and African American students who live in South Los Angeles. All of them receive daily free lunches, and most are English Language Learners. Above all, my students are scholars who will become our next generation of leaders!

My Project

My students spend the majority of their waking hours at school, and I want to create a relaxing and comfortable space for them. This will ultimately improve their ability to learn by increasing focus and engagement.

Adding cozy and calming elements will transform the classroom into a home away from home.

This project will help create ownership and belonging for each student with the inclusion of family and class photos around the room. The greenery and lights will establish an intimate comfort, and the essential oils will aid in attention. These additions to the classroom will help my students relax into their best learning!
