My Students

I'm a school social worker who works in an elementary school in Baltimore City. The students at my school are awesome. I work with students in the general education program and the special education program.

The students I work with are friendly, fun, and eager to learn.

A lot of the children struggle with understanding their feelings and knowing how to express their feelings appropriately. They also struggle with understanding how to make friends and how to respond appropriately in social situations.

My Project

As a school social worker in an elementary school, I would like to teach my students how to regulate their feelings. Based on research self-regulation helps children learn, behave well, get along with others and become independent. Self regulation also help children to learn at school because self-regulation gives children the ability to sit and listen in the classroom. Since the pandemic, this is the first time in over a year that the students have been in the school building. Many students are struggling with learning to adhere to the structure of a full school day.

I would like to download worksheets, posters and games from the Teacher Pay Teachers site that focus on teaching elementary school students how to regulate their feelings, and how to cope with their various feelings in a healthy manner.
