This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students' diagnoses include Autism, Developmental Delays, DMD, Angelman's Syndrome, and students with speech impairments & other disabilities who are picky to choose what to eat & keeping the food cool and fresh in the refrigerator would be a big change to assist them to keep their diet up to date and healthy and eat the food at the desire temperature. Sometimes, we need to store the beverages and some other food items in the fridge from their lunch bags, but we have only one small fridge in the school for 125-150 students, which is not sufficient and because of lack of the resources and change in temperature of food and beverages nor being enough cold, These challenged students refuse to eat the food which their loved ones have packed for their kids. Their smile and satisfaction is a MUST to US. I feel having a refrigerator will help them to eat the food at desired temperature.
I will also share the donations with colleagues of mine who also work with students with special needs in the school.
