My Students

My classroom consists of students who are in grades first, second, third, and fourth. It is a self-contained, low-incidence special education room. The individuals are diverse learners who have moderate to severe disabilities that include autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and speech and language impairments. My students come from all over the city of Chicago, making the class rich with diversity and culture.

No matter the challenging situations and difficulties they face, my students continue to come to school happy and eager to learn; they are amazing!

We are a Chicago Public School and our district continues to face financial difficulties. Because of this, the school lacks funding to appropriately support our classroom and students. With a little help from DonorsChoose.org, we can get tools to support, enhance, and facilitate learning in a productive way!

My Project

My students and I have been remote learning since March. This is especially difficult for my students, as they have large discrepancies in terms of abilities, needs, and interests. Just like in the classroom, my students continue to require an individualized curriculum.

Teachers Pay Teachers is a site full of curriculum and activities that addresses all academic subjects at each grade level.

The site has recently adapted a large number of the activities and curriculum to a digital platform, allowing the students to interact with the work on their computers, while still offering a print option.

Specifically, the gift certificates will go towards leveled social studies and functional math curriculum; they come in varying levels to address the students' different instructional levels. These curricula are available digitally so that the students and I can interact with it online. They are also available in print, allowing for a smooth transition when we return back to the classroom. Thank you so very much for your consideration!
