References Stink When You Run Out of Ink

My students need ink for our classroom printer so they can print references to use for their drawing and painting assignments.

My Students

"I think the arts are important because they allow students to express themselves. The guidance provided also helps build skills that will stick with students in the future. If it was eliminated, I would feel like something was stolen from me." - 11th grade student @ SHS This says it all.

I take pride in my students and the reputation our art department has earned as being one of the strongest in the area.

We are in a rural area with a lower socio-economic status. My students are hard working and go above and beyond to create some beautiful pieces of work. Art is one of the few classes left where they can use their imagination and create something that represents them, their lives & their interests. Most of my students have limited technological resources at home and cannot print out the images they need to create art work. Unfortunately I only have two computers with printers available in my classroom and the printer that works is in black and white and of poor quality.

My Project

My classroom currently has one colored printer but the ink has run out. The printer takes four cartridges and each cartridge is almost $80. My students would be so excited to be able to use the printer in class. To be able to not only access the technology available but print off useful references would open an entirely new window of opportunities. In addition to using the printer for references, my students would be able to print off their graphically designed art assignments.

My students love to access the Internet to find new and unusual references to study for their drawings and paintings.

If this project was funded, it would provide my students with so many more options and open up an entire new realm of possibilities for their artwork.
