My Students

My co-teacher and I have a great opportunity to loop with our students this year! Our classroom consists of 28 students from low-income households. All of them learned English as their second language. We have six students with IEPS (speech and language, learning disabilities), and some struggle with focus. The other students struggle in areas of reading, writing, and math. We have worked with these students for all of the last academic year and are super excited to continue this journey with them. We hope to establish a classroom that is both a safe haven and a place that equips them with the tools they will need to venture out into the world.

In order to do this, we want to ask for all the support we can get!

Our classroom consists of English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and students who need extra support and guidance. In order to reach all of their needs, we are asking for support in classroom materials and resources.

We hope to continue another year full of love, acceptance, and of course, fun! Thank you.

My Project

During the six months of COVID-19, students have expressed confusion, frustration, and disappointment as the pandemic continued to keep them from learning together with their friends in the presence of their teachers. Now that schools are reopening, they are facing a critical shortage of learning materials, fewer of which can be shared, and completely new methods of learning that change continuously in line with public health policy.

When our children return, we want them to have supplies and resources available to help them reenter the world of learning in the classroom.

Just about all of the items we requested- post-its, scissors, markers, pencils, and erasers are items that we used to be able to share but are no longer able to. Having a larger number of these supplies will allow us to ensure that every student is prepared in class.

The laminator and the laminator pouches will be used to create longer-lasting resources and tools for the kids to use throughout the year.

The bulletin borders, clear sheet protectors, magnetic pocket squares, tape, and magnets will be used to decorate the classroom and keep it orderly.

The positive postcards will be sent out to students and parents to inform them about each student's accomplishments throughout the year.

The goal of this projec is to ensure we have enough to properly equip our students and create a welcoming and nurturing environment.
