What makes you buzz? For my clarinet, alto sax and tenor sax students the answer is REEDS! Without them, they're just blowing hot air. The reed is a small slice of dried cane that is attached to the instrument, and this is the thing that vibrates and creates the sound! Reeds come in different degrees of stiffness, and I like to keep a variety of strengths on hand for my students as they progress. Reeds are supposed to be replaced every 2-4 weeks, so my supply continually needs to be replenished. Clarinet and saxophone are popular instruments in my bands and beginning wind class. I am expecting about 45 clarinet and 35 saxophone students this year.
