This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are unique in personality and background but deeply connected in their commitment to learning more about the world in order to help make it a better place.

Among the many issues that fascinate and inspire my students, caring for the environment or 'going green' as they'd say is one of the most prominent.

They share a deep concern for the planet and want to be a part of making it a cleaner better place. It is my hope to guide them toward meeting their 'green' goals.

My Project

These materials will help students realize their 'green' goals they have formed. I am lucky enough to be teaching the same students from the past two years as I am moving up from third to fourth and fifth grade, so I have observed their development of a passion for helping the environment and have heard their ideas about how to do so. Many of their ideas start with the classroom. I want to show them how small changes to daily life can have a big impact and make our classroom greener with LED and CFL lighting, use of recycled paper, using more whiteboards than chart paper and cleaning our space with nontoxic products. These materials will help create a learning environment that is better for the students and the planet.
