Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year we are working to reduce chronic absenteeism. Our students attend a Title I school located in Northern Virginia where we currently have one of the highest rates of chronic absenteeism amongst middle schools in our school district.

We are working to implement several positive attendance initiatives this school year to include small groups, recognition for students with perfect attendance and attendance thermometers outside of each classroom door.

In an effort to recognize students with perfect attendance we are recognizing students monthly during lunch by announcing their name and allowing them to come to the stage to select a prize/incentive. In addition, the students with perfect attendance for that month are recognized with their name on our perfect attendance poster. The pencils, squishy toys, fidgets, notepads and other items requested for this project will be used as attendance incentives.
