My Project

At our Pre-k center, our job is to develop young minds. A portion of the curriculum focuses on science skills. These skills will be used throughout our student’s academic careers and hopefully after. As part of our school day, students receive 120 minutes of play-based learning. During this time students choose the center they wish to visit. One of these centers is the discovery center where they participate in exploring natural collections and conducting science experiments. As the year goes on, I am finding a decline in the visits to the discovery center. By requesting root viewers, bug collections, a weather kit, books, binoculars, and other new materials, there is hope to reignite the children’s love of the center.

All of the materials I have submitted for this project are going to help grow and develop students love and knowledge of science and nature.

These materials will also be enjoyed across all grade levels in our school; 3k, Pre-k, and our special education classes. There is no better way to engage a student than with a fun and exciting activity. When the exciting activity can help foster a love of science and challenge a child’s critical thinking skills, it’s even better!
